MonsterGod, "Smile"

Nine Inch Nails put out a new single, and it's probably the worst thing they've ever signed with their name yet. Also, some guy I know was singing Rammstein's "Sonne" today, and this is what directly made me listen to MonsterGod again. MonsterGod's music sounds like a cross between those two above-mentioned outfits, just a tad better. The song I'm writing about, "Smile", appeared in the web almost a year ago, but this faux-gloomy Polish industrial is still worth remembering, since the band is currently working on their debut record.

I'm probably wrong about their influences, because in fact the guys from MonsterGod are deep into dark electronica, and inspired by countless acts I've never even heard of. Nevertheless, "Smile" has an outstandingly "German" feel, and seems to be a skillful parody of the western industrial genre. That dense rhythm, swollen keyboard themes, delayed vocals and German speech – isn't it the perfect template? Well, nevermind; what's important is the fact that they have skills, they don't get anxious during shows and haven't recorded their "Survivalism" yet.
